Safety and wellbeing
In everything we do, we strive for high-quality work, driven by craftsmanship. Safety is our top priority. Our activities must not in any way harm the health or physical integrity of employees, network users or third parties. Accidents involving electricity, natural gas or heat (hot water or steam) are referred to as fluid accidents. These can have very serious consequences. As true specialists in this field, we must have complete control over the risks involved. That is why our target is ZERO accidents.
We are building a culture that promotes safety awareness at every level of the organisation. Our aim is to create a workplace where everyone takes personal responsibility for working safely. In this regard, we make no distinction between internal or external staff, contractors or suppliers. Working safely is something we do together.
To achieve this, all employees receive thorough training, we implement a proactive prevention policy that allows room for initiative, and we are constantly striving for improvement. This means, among other things, that we continuously analyse and refine our equipment, working methods, processes, products, and so on. In this way, we aim to minimise risks and any adverse effects on people and the environment as much as possible.
As well as safety, we also prioritise the work-life balance of every employee. We support initiatives that promote a healthy balance between work and personal life. Thanks to the daily commitment of every employee, we create a pleasant and safe working environment. Together, we make Fluvius a Safe Place To Work.
Social dialogue
Fluvius organises structured social dialogue with its own staff and employee representatives to discuss the potential impact of our activities. These consultation sessions help to ensure that different perspectives are taken into account in the decision-making process. Through informal and formal consultations with employee representatives within the organisation, our own staff remain closely involved.
Great Place To Work
Since 2019, we have been running the Great Place To Work survey, an annual exercise designed to assess our corporate culture. Every Fluvius employee can complete it anonymously. It is the perfect opportunity for them to share their views on Fluvius as an employer. The survey gauges feelings and experiences across five key areas: respect, trust, fairness, pride, enjoyment and camaraderie.
Fluvius is committed to being a ‘Great Place To Work’ for all our employees. This fits in with our strategy of putting customers and employees first. Through this survey, we want to hear from our employees what it’s really like to work here.
The results objectively show us what we are satisfied or even very satisfied with. Conversely, they reveal where the problem lies: what are we less satisfied or only slightly satisfied with? This helps us identify where we need to continue our efforts and where change is required.
The survey also gives everyone the chance to add a few words of explanation. That is extremely valuable. Statistics provide a general picture, but we learn even more from a personal story. Every year, we review what actions are needed to maintain the positives and to create an ever-improving working environment for our people.
Diversity and inclusion
Fluvius is actively working on a diversity and inclusion policy, supported by both management and staff. We are taking a pragmatic approach to creating a working environment where everyone feels physically, socially and psychologically safe and welcome.
We pay explicit attention to diversity in recruitment and leadership. Respect, collaboration and shared responsibility are our core values in this regard. In this way, Fluvius aims to be an organisation where everyone can be themselves and feel valued. Where differences contribute to strong teams and sustainable performance.
Career and development
Fluvius invests heavily in the sustainable employability and development of its staff. In a rapidly changing environment, we encourage continuous learning and development. We support our staff in carrying out their work safely, professionally and with a focus on the future. To this end, we have established the Fluvius Academy and offer a wide range of training courses covering specialist knowledge, skills and safety.
Employees are given the opportunity to strengthen their skills, explore new roles and progress within the organisation – in consultation with their manager. Through both traditional and innovative learning methods, employees can keep their knowledge up to date and continue to develop in line with changing needs and new challenges.
Collaboration with the education sector
As we place great importance on training and development, we work closely with the education sector. In addition to work placements, we also offer work-based learning programmes for students in specific fields. Our partners and contractors can also make use of our in-house training programmes.
Jobs
At Fluvius, people from a wide range of backgrounds work together on a vital social mission: building and managing the networks of tomorrow. To this end, we offer a wide range of roles, from technical and operational positions to specialist roles, IT roles and support functions, across the whole of Flanders. Employees can combine meaningful work with a strong team-oriented culture, a good work-life balance and opportunities for career progression within an organisation undergoing significant change.
