Fluvius obtains ISO 27001 certificate for information security

A strong step forward in cybersecurity

Fluvius recently obtained the ISO 27001 certificate, the international standard for information security. This certificate is proof that we not only protect our data, systems and processes, but also continuously improve them through a formal Information Security Management System (ISMS). In this way, we guarantee the availability, integrity and confidentiality of our information and systems – essential for our operations and for the trust of shareholders, regulators and customers.

As a utility company with an important societal role, our systems are central to the daily lives of citizens, businesses, cities and municipalities. An outage in energy distribution can have major consequences. Moreover, we see cyber threats continuously evolving, from financially motivated attacks to attempts to destabilize critical infrastructure. That is why we continuously strengthen our cyber resilience.

The digital challenges and geopolitical developments required a strategy that makes Fluvius digitally resilient and secure. Both national and European regulations oblige companies with a critical role in society to bring their security up to standard.

Our approach includes technological, people-oriented, organizational and physical security measures. The ISO 27001 certificate is also an important first step towards compliance with the NIS2 legislation.

At the beginning of December 2025, our management system was thoroughly evaluated by external auditors from Vinçotte. Their positive assessment resulted in the certification. But it doesn’t stop there. As a “critical entity” designated by the CCB, we will expand our scope to the entire digital infrastructure by the end of 2026, including sewage systems, heating and public lighting. We are increasing the maturity of our security measures and continue to strengthen our systems.

In the coming years, we will not only schedule external audits but also annual internal audits to maintain our high level and continue to respond to new challenges. Achieving the certificate is the result of intensive collaboration between various teams and departments. Together, we ensure a secure digital future at Fluvius.
