Energy Networks Investment Plan

Energy Networks Investment Plan

The energy transition requires strong, flexible and future-oriented energy networks. We are responding to this with an investment plan. We are preparing the Flemish distribution networks for an energy system that is increasingly based on electrification, renewable energy and decentralised production. The plan translates the climate goals and social ambitions towards 2050 into concrete investmentserosion on the site. The growth of electric mobility, heat pumps, solar panels and the accelerated electrification of companies are the biggest priorities.

In doing so, we focus on targeted ‘no regret’investments in the electricity grids. We strengthen capacity and reliability, while managing the gas grids safely and in a controlled manner in function of a gradual transitie. The investment plan is based on future scenarios, stakeholder consultation and public consultation. This is necessary to make the energy transition feasible, affordable and socially responsible for all grid users.

Capacity pointer

The capacity indicator supports the energy transition by providing insight into the available capacity on the medium-voltage electrical grid. Through this digital tool, we make it transparent where and under what conditions new purchases or injection projects are possible. For example, for the electrification of companies, charging infrastructure or renewable energy.

Our capacity guide helps companies, local authorities and other stakeholders to better plan investment decisions and connect projects faster and more efficiently. It provides an indicative picture of the current grid capacity and supports dialogue, grid reinforcement and targeted investments in function of the grids for tomorrow.

Network Checker

With the Network Checker, we give customers insight into the quality and stability of the electricity grid in their environment. The digital tool shows whether there is an increased risk of voltage problems locally, for example with solar panel installations. The Network Checker thus provides more clarity about the current net position.

Based on measurement data from digital meters, we can inform customers transparently and respond more quickly to possible bottlenecks. The Network Checker helps to integrate renewable energy reliably and contributes to a stable electricity grid. At the same time, we continue to plan targeted investments and grid reinforcements where necessary.
