Great Place To Work
At Fluvius, we put our employees first and strive to be a 'Great Place To Work'. Via the annual Great Place to Work survey, we want to hear from our employees how they actually experience working at Fluvius. The results give us an objective view of where we are doing well and where we can improve.
We aim to create a culture that stands out in terms of:
- Trust: Between colleagues and managers.
- Pride: Employees are proud of their role, their team and their company.
- Fun and camaraderie: A nice working atmosphere with strong mutual bonds.
Our values
Our values came from suggestions made by our staff. They express the way we aim to deal with each other, and with everyone who comes into contact with Fluvius. Our values were updated at the end of 2023 to make them more future-proof. This was in close cooperation with our employees themselves. We summarize them under the acronym STERK (STRONG in Dutch):
- Samen (Together): we reinforce each other, to achieve our goal together and as one team. bereiken.
- Trots (Pride): we put safety and quality first, and we are proud of that. We seize new opportunities and ideas with both hands.
- Engagement(Commitment): as veritable Fluvius ambassadors, we take full responsibility.
- Respect: we value each other's opinions and feedback and use them to grow together.
- Klant centraal (Customer-centric): satisfied customers are our biggest driver..
Safety
Working safely is at the top of Fluvius' priority list. Especially in our sector, it is a permanent focal point, training and motivation, both for our own employees and for our contractors. Everyone is responsible for their own safety and that of colleagues and third parties.
Safe work begins with strict compliance with our safety regulations. But there’s more to it than that: all Fluvius employees think along, take extra safety precautions or decide not to carry out tasks if they cannot be done safely. This way of working is called the STOP-THINK-ACT principle.
At Fluvius we aim for ZERO accidents: we want everyone who leaves for work in the morning to return home safe and sound in the evening. With the STOP-THINK-ACT principle, we offer a clear step-by-step plan for working safely that everyone is familiar with and always has to hand.
Diversity and inclusion
Fluvius is currently working on a diversity and inclusion policy, supported by both management and employees. In a pragmatic way, Fluvius is committed to both diversity and inclusion. For instance, we constantly strive to create a workplace that is physically, socially and psychologically safe and inclusive. We also consciously deal with diversity in our recruitment. We explicitly choose shared leadership and concretely commit to our values of respect and togetherness. We strive to be a great place to work, for everyone who works with us.
Through the annual Great Place To Work survey, the 4-yearly well-being scan and qualitative employee experience sessions, we question our employees about psychological safety, feeling heard and seen, being able to be themselves, experiencing discrimination or harassment, among other things. Results of questions on themes such as belonging, being able to be oneself, fair treatment regardless of identity characteristics score very well in our organisation. We not only want to sustainably connect society with our multi-utility grids, but we also want to connect people inside and outside our organisation.
As a basis for diversity and inclusion, today we have our Integrity Policy and our Ethical Charter. One of the explicit principles there is that we do not allow any form of discriminatory behaviour within the company.
Customer-centric
Customer centricity is one of our strategic pillars. We strive to provide the best service to every customer. That means quick and clear answers, rapid execution with minimal waiting times and disruption, and clear communication. We are committed to meeting these expectations for the 6.5 million inhabitants of Flanders and our 300 shareholder cities and municipalities.
Combating energy poverty
We are taking action to reduce energy poverty. We are targeting energy efficiency for more vulnerable target groups, by promoting energy-conscious reflexes and encouraging energy-saving investments. On the other hand, we play our role as a social energy supplier. If customers cannot obtain an energy supply contract from their commercial supplier due to payment difficulties, they can get in touch with Fluvius as their social supplier. We ensure the necessary follow-up and guidance so that these customers can move to a commercial supplier.
Good causes
Back in the day, Fluvius selected two good causes with whom it could set up long-term structural cooperation:
- 'Kom op tegen Kanker' (Action against Cancer)
- Food Banks
The commitment of our employees and the synergies this creates internally and with the organisations play a key role.
Education and training
Because we believe training and development are very important, we cooperate closely with the education sector. As well as internships, we also offer dual learning for students from specific disciplines. At the annual ‘Spitsdagen’ (Top Days), the various education-sector players get to know our organisation and each other better. Additionally, we make our internal training offering available to our partners and contractors.
