11 grid operators

Fluvius is the umbrella name for 11 Flemish municipal associations (inter-municipal partnerships), for which Fluvius System Operator is the operating company.

These 11 municipal associations together fully own Fluvius: Fluvius Antwerp, Fluvius Limburg, Fluvius West, Gaselwest, Imewo, Intergem, Iveka, Iverlek, PBE, Riobra and Sibelgas.

These mandated associations are all 100% publicly owned by all 300 Flemish municipalities.

  • 10 associations act as distribution system operators (DSOs) for the fully regulated business of electricity and/or natural gas distribution: Fluvius Antwerp, Fluvius Limburg, Fluvius West, Gaselwest, Imewo, Intergem, Iveka, Iverlek, PBE, and Sibelgas. They are also responsible for the heating activity.
  • 4 associations are active in the fully regulated sewerage activity: Fluvius Antwerp, Fluvius Limburg, Fluvius West and Riobra

Fluvius Mandated Association (OV in Dutch)

Fluvius OV is the company that (since 1 April 2019) houses the statutory employees of the former Infrax distribution system operators. From Fluvius OV, that part of the personnel is seconded to Fluvius System Operator.
